Success for Camp Alba 2010

CAMP ALBA - Many thanks to all those who attended and making it another great success and of course a big thanks to our visiting coaches Frederick Dambach and Mr Nobuhisa Hagiwara. The venue was at David Llyods in Renfrew and the facilities were fabulous - Many other clubs helped by suppling mats - a big thanks to Susan Kirkpatric/Paul McGuinness/Tam Brown.

Both coaches commented on the level of involvement of all the players and coaches and said it was a delight to coach such a group! They both enjoyed their time in Scotland, where Mr Hagiwara particularly enjoyed the dark beer....I believe that was the Belhaven?

Judo in Scotland has been recognised by its ability to produce elite Judoka and is now also proving that we have quality Judoka’s through all our clubs in Scotland - well done to all those who attended and many thanks from all of us at SJCA.....Hopefully’ see you again next year.

David Lloyd’s judoka at the Falkirk Challenge tournament
- 11th April 2010

Sister’s Iona (12) and Orla (8) McEntee make their competitive debut at the Falkirk Challenge on the 11th April. Both Girl’s fought extremely well with Iona winning Gold and Orla winning Silver. Not only did they win medals on the day but they also managed to cost their coach Tommy a small fortune in chocolate bars as Tommy agree to rewards them for scoring by Ippon from a throw or a turnover demonstrated at the SJCA David Lloyds class.

Scott Mair (13) also followed up an impressive performance at his last competition with another great performance. This was a particularly difficult category with a few high grades competing but not to be out done by the girls Scott fought superbly earning a well deserved Silver medal and like Iona and Orla he managed to use to great effect some good techniques shown to him at SJCA David Lloyds.

East of Scotland SN Champtionships
Alex Ferrier - Silver, Cameron Black - Silver
Christopher Scott - Silver, Maeve Morris - Bronze

Fantastic performances from all, with scores coming on both left and right side. This was great to see as we have been working heavily on throwing to the opposite side for a number of weeks... just goes to show if we have the confidence to dare them we will win!! Well done to our four CHAMPIONS.
